#10. Death to the Architects?
Last week, a debate overtook Black Factory Studio colleagues around the lifespan of the architectural profession and whether it will survive the AI takeover heading our way.
In October, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) posted an article about the influence and impact of Artificial Intelligence on the architecture world. They discussed how businesses are using it in different ways, such as automating the admin sides of their project delivery to maximise creative time whilst still minimising errors. RIBA reported that 49% of Architecture professionals, alongside 43% of the construction industry, are now using AI tools in 2025. The main question, we suppose, is whether AI will be able to emulate the humanity that is inherently tied to architecture in order to take over the profession completely.
Ultimately, AI can do a lot of things humans can, arguably better, and with a more clear-cut level of efficiency. Even though AI doesn’t wear rollnecks or hold great conversation and understanding about the way you want your space to flow and feel, we do appreciate its benefits when it comes to practical, everyday tasks. AI’s ability to allow smaller businesses such as our own into more competitive spaces is also very exciting, and opens many doors of opportunity in regards to onboarding more projects and partaking in industry discussion.
Here at Black Factory Studio we often utilise AI to draft and review text, or pull together technical information such as legislation and building regulations, allowing us to focus more time on project design. The extensive information AI has in regards to planning policy and report writing has proved invaluable in helping Black Factory maintain such a high level of work as we expand. That being said, the personality that makes your space yours is not something that we feel can be programmed, which is why everything you receive from us is still thoroughly vetted or designed by a member of our team.
Even as AI continues its takeover of the architecture space and its uses become more complex, Black Factory Studio still takes this upmost pride in delivering the clear, efficient and personal results that you want, direct from our own creatives. As a studio, we are focused on only implementing technology that does truly and sustainably enhance our work. Implementing AI in our day-to-day operations has only furthered this ability to produce high quality work, as the combination of our highly technical team expertise and AI proves to be efficient and formidable.
Whilst the value of AI skyrockets, our focus on our craft stays both loyal and consistent.
