#7. Bringing the Joy Back to Children’s Wear!
Established in 1967, Ralph Lauren has long been a luxury symbol of classic American aesthetics and aspirations. The historic New Bond Street flagship is an obvious culmination of such symbolism, as claimed by Ralph Lauren to be “Inspired by the great luxury ocean liners of the 1920s, this London flagship blends Art Deco architecture with the robust opulence of an English Gentleman’s club to create a luxurious environment for Ralph Lauren’s collections.”
One of our most recent projects involved working closely with the Ralph Lauren design team to implement and manage the renovation of the Children’s Wear department in their New Bond Street flagship store. The goal of this project was to bring Ralph Lauren back to its core values, focusing on the brands crisp styling and unique versatility.
Not having been renovated for many years, the New York design team had the opportunity to directly reflect the label’s identity, drawing on the playful nature of its nautical roots and timeless feel using various art pieces and fresh wallpaper styles. As you can see, we were able to help implement this in a way that ensured any technical design issues didn’t compromise the design’s integrity, but rather enhanced the space.
In line with this, an important aspect of the project for both the Ralph Lauren team, and our team when implementing and managing the build, was the movement between spaces and the way in which the rooms flowed into one another. The subtle transitions throughout the basement staircase as the customer moves from Adult’s to Children’s Wear is an excellent example of this, as the accessories and visual experience shifts into a younger tone, with children’s building blocks beginning to infiltrate the space, while remaining functional and efficient.
If you have any questions regarding converting your space or simply wish to chat some more about our projects in general, drop us an email and we would be more than happy to talk to you!
