#13. Avoiding the Unknown: How measured surveys save time, money and stress.

Across every project it is important that a detailed survey takes place before any physical construction begins. At Black Factory our team is always first on site to get a feel for your space and make sure that plans are drawn with accuracy, efficiency and vision.  

A measured survey is the process of taking precise measurements in order to produce accurate and scaled drawings or 3D renders. This includes building an accurate record of a space’s current condition, getting behind the building fabric, and highlighing any potential unknowns. It is a key part of any designer's process because it forms the backbone of the project’s documentation going forward and allows for any potential problems to be foreseen. 

A good survey is drawn digitally in CAD. This not only helps to preserve the accuracy of the survey and verify its measurement’s, but also minimises any errors. It also allows for the plans to be exchanged digitally with other stakeholders for adding any additional information. This process ensures your measured survey is done properly so your project flourishes in the long run. 

Without a measured survey, your proposed project design may not actually work, meaning you may encounter issues with local planning authorities, or have the incorrect quantities of material required. The security of a good and informative survey gives you pease of mind and ensures your project sticks to schedule.
